Patricia L Fells: This is going to be very difficult and still maintain the quality education that we expect for our children in Mulvane. I believe that we need to start by evaluating our spending in the area of supplies and seeing if we can be more thrifty in our buying. We need to purchase only the necessities to enable our teachers and staff to continue to do their job efficiently and effectively. We need to make sure that our utilities are as efficient as possible such as lighting and water usage.
Patricia L Fells: The district is in need of more instructional space. With the addition of programs it has become necessary to add additional classrooms. However, I do not believe that this is the best time for us to be looking at passing a bond. The economy is too unstable at this time. It would be hard for the taxpayers to pass a bond when it is uncetain whether they will have a job in the following months.
Patricia L Fells: Mulvane schools are already meeting the standard of excellence in several of the tested areas. The district has employed quality teachers who care about educating students. It will be imperative that we continue to hire and maintain teachers that are concerned about meeting the standards and instruct in such a way that their students are being successful. As the expectation gets higher each year, the challenge will become greater. We will need to ensure that our teachers continue on this path.
Patricia L Fells: My top priority has been and will continue to be that we are providing the best education for ALL students in USD263.By holding all persons accountable for their role in providing a quality education and a caring attitude about our students, we can continue to have a high graduation rate with our students, allowing them to become productive adults, giving back to the community and helping to continue the high standards of education. Our schools should be one of the reasons people live in Mulvane.
