Mark Conway:
I am running because I enjoy serving the public having held an elected office the past six years and as a volunteer in the community for many years prior to becoming elected. We face many challenges in the future and I feel I am the best candidate to contribute in moving our community forward in a cautiously progressive fashion.
Mark Conway:
I am the most qualified candidate with my background as a business owner and my previous experience in public office having served as mayor the past four years. I feel the relationship I have developed with our County, State and Federal elected officials has and will continue to enhance the opportunities available to our community.
Mark Conway:
I lead the city with openness and transparency and give complete support to those empowered with running the city on a daily basis to perform their job to the fullest of their ability. I listen to the people and understand that there are many different views and opinions as to what is best for our city and strive to do what is best for the city as a whole.
Mark Conway:
The biggest issue facing our city at this time is the slowing economy and our lack of commercial business. To address this issue we need to continue to enhance our Economic Development efforts to maintain our current businesses and recruit more businesses to our community and to our Industrial Park.
Mark Conway:
Other priorities include repair/replacement of aging residential streets, hiring a City Administrator and maintaining our commitment to provide quality services to the public. These issues are addressed by working with the City Council to see that these priorities are addressed and we maintain our commitment to doing what is in the best interest of the citizens of Rose Hill.
Mark Conway:
I totally agree with open records, open meetings and transparency in local government. Elected public office is a public trust in the interest and for the benefit of the people. The best way to maintain public trust is by open records, open meetings and transparency.

Andy Reed:
I believe Rose Hill is at a point where it needs to decide to become a City or be engulfed by Wichita. I believe Rose Hill needs to become a stand alone, and needs new leadership to guide it in that direction.
Andy Reed:
I have been a member of this community for over 37 years. I have watched the city grow with new developments, while older areas where left in neglect. I have worked for the Public works Dept. and I am fully aware of what is possible with minimal equipment. I believe that we could run more proficiently and with better use of manpower than we currently are.
Andy Reed:
I believe there is a tremendous lack of involvment from the comunity in it's government. People need to be encouraged to attend council meetings and not become part of the system, but rather be the system.
Without involvment of any kind, the ideals of the ones elected are the only ones presented and accepted. I want to hear what the comunity as a whole wants, rather than a vocal few, at what I believe, is going to be a major crossroads for this city.
Andy Reed:
Currently the largest complaint is repair of city streets. Repairs are needed and new funds need to be found for those repairs. I have addressed the city council with ideas and they are already researching them. I am also hopefully optomistic that some of the stimulus money can come forth to help fund those repairs.
Andy Reed:
I would welcome public input, but I believe we need to really find new ways to attract businesses to Rose Hill. We need to look at ways of making it attractive for them to be in town as well as affordable. I think we need to look hard at some of the zoning regulations on the books now, as I believe many of them are almost prohibitive to business construction and growth.
Andy Reed:
As I have had to go and sit with the city inspector, or pay $.50 a page to get a look at some of the zoning regulations this city has. I am all for openness.
If it is that difficult to obtain information it makes me think I am not supposed to be informed about it! At least not until I am getting fined.
I am by no means perfect, but when I am wrong I am the first to admit it. I think a lot of the "behind the scenes" politics is cleaning up a mess that just needed to be made public anyway.
