Thomas Reed:
The City of Maize is a rapidly growing community, strong leadership is needed. Creating an open-door policy in which citizens feel free to express their opinions and concerns is vital. An open forum involving cittizens in decision making will help build a strong community.
Thomas Reed:
I am willing to listen to everyone's opinion and weigh that in my decision. As a self-employed individual in the Maize community for the last 29 years I am aware of past issues and know of present issues facing the city at large. Running a long-time business in a relatively small community gives me insight into how citizens are treated and what needs to be done.
Thomas Reed:
I would lead the city in a serious yet straightforward manner, keeping a light atmosphere to facilitate an open and transparent city office.
Thomas Reed:
High taxes and expensive monthly utility bills are a huge issue facing the Maize community. Using good common sense in day-to-day operations along with strengthening our infrastructure will help us lower the mill levy and monthly utility bills.
Thomas Reed:
Drainage and safety are also important issues facing Maize. By working with K&O Railroad to vacate the tracks running through Maize, we can work to prevent trains from blocking emergency access to the community and allow for coordination of drainage usage of the right-of-way.
Thomas Reed:
Transparency in government is essential. Secrecy only leads to dishonesty, creating mistrust. As a city we should be willing to utilize our local television channel to broadcast all city meetings for citizens to view. The open-door policy I will implement will encourage citizen involvement.
