Paula L. Mortimer: The entire process is intriguing to me, from concept to fruition. I believe in the old adage if you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem. With that in mind I wanted to get involved, and the best way I know how to do that is to jump in head first. I would like the opportuity to do the best job I can for the people of this community, and represent my ward with pride. I would like the chance to be part of the process that can only improve on a good thing.
Paula L. Mortimer: During the last year I have been attending all the City Council meetings and work sessions, so that I could hit the ground running. I felt it was extremely important to know what the issues were prior to sitting in the seat. I worked for the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce for the last 2.5 years and I had the opportunity to experience being an agent of change for my Chamber Members, and wanted to take that same experience to a different level, a be an agent of change for an entire community.
Paula L. Mortimer: The biggest issue facing our community today is the possibility of being a host for a Destination Casino and Resort. The City Council has been very proactive and fair in their approach on how to become a host community for what could be the biggest project Wellington has ever faced. I plan on continuing the great work that has already been done and continue to lay the foundation for a project of this magnitude.
Paula L. Mortimer: The current state of the economy will play a huge part in our decisions this year and the next. We are no different on this issue than any town in the country. Be smart, spend smart, think ahead…Those will be the words running through my thoughts with every vote I am asked to cast.
Paula L. Mortimer: Open records and open meetings are very important to any city, state, government process. All meetings with the exception of privacy issues should be held in a public setting. Open for anyone who has the desire to attend and learn.

Terry Nunemaker: I have the time and energy to help the local community, and I have a strong desire to do so. I am interested promoting community and business growth, affordable public works, improved public safety, and a clean environment.
Terry Nunemaker: I have over 20 years of management experience in the aircraft industry. I retired as a Director of the Boeing Company. My business career involved planning and completing numerous large commercial and military aircraft projects. Also, as chairman of the planning commission, my team created the initial comprehensive development plan, zoning regulations, and subdivision regulations for the city of Rose Hill.
Terry Nunemaker: Our biggest issue is maintaining and growing the local business interests as we work through the current recession.
Terry Nunemaker: Any and all urgent public safety issues would be my top priority. Second would be thoroughly planning and evaluating public works projects for effectiveness and affordability. Next would come supporting local business and industry interests. Then I would focus on environmental responsibility issues, such as recycling and clean neighborhoods.
Terry Nunemaker: I strongly support openness and transparency in local government affairs. I believe the city should make extensive use of the local paper, radio station, TV station, and their internet website to post council meeting minutes, upcoming agendas, proposed resolutions and ordinances, and post a copy of the current city budget. Citizens, tax payers, have the right to know what is happening in their city government and should be encouraged to participate in the governing process.
