Sandra Bradshaw: I considered running for mayor several years ago. Our current economic environment, encouragement of community members and the additional time to devote to the office due to my recent retirment are all factors in my decision. The challenges we are facing as a community will best be dealt with through the collaboration of the mayor, council and Haysville citizens working together for the good of our city. My professional and personal experiences give me the background needed to be mayor.
Sandra Bradshaw: I have experience in strategic planning, economic development, consensus building and leadership development. As Community Relations Coordinator for the Haysville School District, I have had the opportunity to work with people from many parts of the community. I have a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility in government. I am committed to serving the citizens of Haysville and making sure their tax dollars are used wisely and efficiently.
Sandra Bradshaw: I am a collaborative leader. I think open communication is key to effective leadership. As an elected official, I believe the Mayor must be available and responsive to the needs of the community. Honesty and transparency are a vital part of establishing trust. I believe the mayor and council must work together as a team for the good of Haysville. I do not believe there is room for personal agendas and special interests if the community is to be served well.
Sandra Bradshaw: Fiscal responsibility and making sure tax dollars are not being wasted is vital. I do not support any new taxes. I believe the city budget must be scrutinized and spending must be prioritized to make sure monies are being used in the most effective way possible. Services and programs are important to make our community an attractive place to live and do business but we must hold the line on taxes. Our citizens are facing difficult financial times. Government must not add to their burden.
Sandra Bradshaw: Attracting new businesses to Haysville and supporting our local business is a top priority. The most effective way to expand the tax base and provide tax relief to property owners is through a growing business community. Making it easy to do business and providing a positive business climate will help expand our local economy.
Sandra Bradshaw: I believe openness in government is not only a legal responsibility but also a foundation of the democratic process. Citizens have a right to know how their governing officials are using their tax dollars through access to records and information. Decisions must be made in an open forum with with full access to the public. Transparency in government helps guard against special interests and misuse of public trust.

Steven Crum: We are at a crossroads in our future. You have heard that in relation to our nation but it is also true for our state and its communities. Luckily, I live in Haysville, a City with hard working, caring people. We have seen a great deal of growth over the past 3-4 yrs. I do not want to see this growth stop. I want our community to use its many assets to bring young families into our family friendly city.
Steven Crum: I have been on the city council since 2000,serving the past two years as council president.I teach & coach in our school district.I am a member of the HEA negotiation team so I understand what it takes to make hard decisions and that to be truly successful takes compromise.I have lived here nearly 40 years, I have coached little league to middle school and high school, including Special Olympics. I am very active in the community and feel that I understand what the citizens want and expect.
Steven Crum: Most people who know me understand that I am a relaxed, self confident, motivated person. I am a people person who wants to be involved in improving my community. I will be available and very approachable for the citizens. I would accept it as my duty to do everything I could to make our community more attractive to potential businesses and residents. I would lead in this manner while always listening to the needs and wants of our current citizens, young and old.
Steven Crum: The challenge of balancing the tough economic times while continuing the growth in our community is of greatest importance. Often in elections, candidates promise to cut taxes. I’d promise that very thing; however,at this time I believe such a promise would be irresponsible. Our citizens are struggling and it is important to do our best to, at the very least, hold taxes steady. Difficult decisions will have to be made. However these decisions should not impede the positive growth in our city.
Steven Crum: I want an active, strong relationship between the school district and the city to help the youth in our community. The district has received a mentoring grant, part of which is geared toward starting a boys and girls club. They have a facility ready, but what can the city do to make this program as successful as possible. Having a strong relationship with our many civic groups would allow us and them to maximize their efforts. Finding ways to work together will get us through these trying times.
Steven Crum: It is very important that our governments all follow the laws set forth as to how records are to be made available to the public. As mayor, another very important aspect of governmental openness is following all rules dealing with open meetings laws. It would be unethical for me not to make sure this is how things would be done in Haysville. These are just some of the positive things I would swear to uphold as Mayor.

Kenneth Hampton: I am running for the Mayor position because I would like growth in the number of businesses we have in our city, and I want to ensure that our city stays financially sound without the raising of taxes. I also would like to create an environment in which people can happily live and raise their families.
Kenneth Hampton: One reason that I feel that I am the most qualified candidate is my five years experience as a city council member, along with my concentrated effort to understand the in's and out's of the city budget. I try to ask as many questions as necessary about any issue that may arise, so that I can make the best decision when the issue comes to a vote.
Kenneth Hampton: I would lead the city as I would want to be led, with honesty, fairness, and no favoritism. I would expect the city department heads to lead likewise. I plan to have a one on one meeting with all employees to share views, and to remind all that we are public servants, and that we need to remember the importance of being good stewards with the funds that we are entrusted with.
Kenneth Hampton: The biggest issue which is facing our city is a shortfall of incoming revenue, which is used to maintain the level of service which we provide, and improves our city's innerstructure, streets, water and sewer lines. We must be more selective on the projects which we undertake, and continually seek ways in which we can improve on efficiency, because raising taxes is not an option.
Kenneth Hampton: Other priorities include bringing businesses to Haysville, but for this to happen, the key factor would be to get taxes down, along with having a motivated Economics Director, which we have in place. Another priority that needs to be addressed is the innerstructure, streets, water and sewer lines, which need to be routinely repaired and sometimes replaced. These repairs should be done on a cash basis only. Bonding out money to complete projects only puts the city further into debt.
Kenneth Hampton: I believe the citizens have a right to access any information which is public record. The more open and available information becomes, the higher level of trust can be reached between the citizen and their government.
